Photo of Pen-tailed Tree Shrew - Ptilocercus lowii

Happy hours all night long for the Shrew

A research has revealed that the pen-tailed tree shrew (Ptilocercus lowii), commonly referred to as tupai ekor kembang, can drink the equivalent of a case of 3.8% beer every night but does not get drunk.

According to the scientists, the tree shrew has been living on a diet that is the equivalent of nothing but beer for up to 55 million years.

Humans only discovered the art of brewing and distilling alcoholic beverages some 9,000 years ago.

According to scientists, seven mammalian species in their study area consume alcoholic nectar daily from flower buds of the bertam palm (Eugeissona tristis), which they pollinate.

The 3.8% maximum alcohol concentration that they recorded is among the highest ever reported in natural food.

Photo illustration: Nude Face of Cathy Freeman

This image was based on an illustration.

Features, such as eyes, eyebrows, lips and cheekbones, were etched with individual body shapes. In the studio photographer Andreas Smetana recreated the illustration in parts by shooting groups of naked talent as separate pieces of the puzzle (suggesting individual family members are pieces of the family tree puzzle). Electric Art took these separate ‘pieces of the puzzle’ and put it back together to create this image of Cathy Freeman.

Catherine (Cathy) Astrid Salome Freeman, an Australian Aboriginals was born on 16th February in Mackay, Queensland. Catherine is Greek for ‘pure’, Astrid, German for ‘star’ and Salome is Hebrew for ‘Peace’. Catherine is among the World’s greatest female athlete and Olympic Champion.

The caterpillar look fresh. It's body is still slimy with white powder form scattered on the body and not fully developed.

The fake eyes is not that visible.

See the black spot on the hump of the caterpillar ? The hump is not the head, it's head is actually small.
